Sometimes taking a moment to do ‘nothing’ is the best ‘something’ that we can do. ― Craig D. Lounsbrough
I had myself a summer. As predicted, it was pure Wonder Years. There’s something about nothing. Allowing myself the chance to unplug was transformative in the most subtle fashion. Simply put, rest is good.
We live in an era of busy. The emphasis on more and the need to confess our calendars is undeniable.
Let’s brag about rest.
Talk to me about your books, your walks, your naps, and your cup of coffee. Show me the pictures of your garden, enlighten me with your cross stitch, or find me a cozy corner to converse on topics like holiday decor.
Tell me how hard you rested.
This summer has taught me not to focus on the time spent immersed in activities, studies, or work, but to value and cherish moments of rest instead. This doesn’t mean I’ll be lazy, because life, and truthfully, myself, demands otherwise. However, it does mean I’ll rest more ardently and regularly.
Thank you summer for the lessons. Picking up the pen tomorrow and I have much more to share soon.
