Back to Soul

“Most of us plateau when we lose the tension between where we are and where we ought to be.” ― John Gardiner
Last week (in New Jersey)  marked back to school for the kiddos. I love September and school plans. The educator in me can’t deny that I function and flow much better when  lessons are outlined and executed in accordance to all things school calendar.
And while I’m sending two off to preschool, I can’t contain my own hunger for more. Sometimes we forget that our need to learn and grow doesn’t stop post-graduation. In fact, I’d argue that most of my significant experience and evolution has been in the past ten years.
So I decided to do something different. I thought I’d take you along a series entitled “back to soul.” It requires nothing but reflection and reverence for a good lyric. I write to a soundtrack of soulful music, which often serves as inspiration.
It’s just a quick song once a day from now until the end of September. Let’s get back to soul. Here we go…
PS Yes, we learn from lyrics.
