Mushy: July is for joy

Healthy emotions come in all sizes. Healthy minds come in all sizes. And healthy bodies come in all sizes.― Cheri K. Erdman

“Mommy, you’re mushy.” Oh to be 5 and without a filter. I wanted to ignore my daughter and crawl into the hole where all my insecurities are housed. But I knew I needed to do this the right way, which required honesty, compassion, and an extended invitation to keep topics like this coming my way.

We talked about my mush in great detail. I emphasized what I loved about my belly as it held a powerful purpose and served me for two healthy pregnancies. I also owned that I was working on eliminating my mush. I wanted her to know it’s okay to love yourself and work on yourself simultaneously. The latter is a thought that gets lost on us and/or debated to death far too often.

I don’t think I’m ever going to be supermodel, but I’d like to be a role model. After talking with my daughter I recognize I need to show her the weight of will. July is for joy. I’m getting mushy about motivation and movement. Do you want to #jumpforjoyinjuly with me? If so, keep tuning in for tidbits of this fika talk.
