Some people I talk to really didn’t like season 5, the final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I rarely come across a good show that ends perfectly. I often label it impossible to do so. Regardless, I’m not clear on how I feel about the season on the whole yet , but my God that last episode had me an emotional mess. I cried when Midge said, “”They say ambition is an unattractive trait in a woman—maybe. But you know what’s really unattractive? Waiting around for something to happen. Staring out a window, thinking the life you should be living is out there somewhere, but not being willing to open the door and go out there and get it, even if someone tells you you can’t.” It’s as if she saw into my soul and shared every thought and feeling with me, possibly for me.
I hope that if you’re reading this you read me regularly. I hope my work finds you and sometimes these snippets resonate with you in a way that fuels passion or cultivates comfort. I hope you know I’m a lot like Midge Maisel. Yes, she’s fictional, but so very real to me. I hope you know that soon I’ll ask you for a favor. That’s right, I’ll be knocking on your door.
